Lizzo says she’s ‘starting to feel comfortable reading comments on the internet’
In 2020, Lizzo announced that she’ll be taking a break from X (formerly Twitter) due to being trolled online. At the time, the star mentioned in her post, “Yeah I can’t do this Twitter s**t no more.. too many trolls… I’ll be back when I feel like it.” However, she was active on Instagram. Last year, the singer hit back at trolls over weight comments on Instagram, saying, “Your body will never be good enough for them because it’s not FOR them.”
However, in a rare X post, the Grammy award winner has now confessed that she feels “comfortable” about reading online comments. In a May 20 tweet, the singer wrote, “I’m starting to feel comfortable reading comments on the internet again and it’s crazy seeing how many people wanna see me fail.”
Lizzo then revealed that the negative comments were not only limited to her; other artists also faced the same. “Then I read other artists comments and I realize it’s not just me— we’re all getting the wave of delirious negativity online.” The artist then concluded the post by providing the solution to the problem, “To anyone struggling w online vitriol just remember, this does not exist in person. It’s all on the internet. Leave it here.”
Soon after the upload, fans supported the singer, with one saying, “I love that you keep pushing as you should! Love that for you !” Another fan added, “You good, Liz. They loud, but they don’t matter.” Meanwhile, a third follower commented, “Exactly. You’re beautiful and thank you. Some ppl just lack empathy fr but it’s ok, we will all continue to grow.”
