Baywatch Reboot: Fox TV Show Announces Release Date Window

The upcoming revival of the hugely popular Baywatch from Fox has secured a new release window. The upcoming series was previously scheduled to air during the fall of 2026 and has now been pushed to next year.

When is the release date window for the Baywatch reboot?

Following its renewal of 17 unscripted shows, Fox has announced that the Baywatch reboot will release in late January 2027.

“There’s only one Baywatch,” said Michael Thorn, president of Fox Television Network (via THR). “It’s one of the most iconic, popular television franchises in TV history.” Thorn also commented on the change in the series release window.

“We have a rich history and of launching series midseason. We just did it most recently with Best Medicine and Memory of a Killer and Doc before that. It goes all the way back to 24 and Empire and the 9-1-1s and The Resident. Obviously, Baywatch is a huge, huge priority for us, and we think we have a great opportunity to set the show up for success [in midseason].”

The Baywatch reboot has already assembled its lead cast, which includes Stephen Amell, Noah Beck, Shay Mitchell, Livvy Dunne, and Brooks Nader. That’s not all, as two members of the original show’s cast are also returning: Erika Eleniak and David Chokachi. Amell will play Hobie Buchannon, the son of David Hasselhoff’s Mitch Buchannon from the show’s original run.

“The reboot will feature adrenaline-fueled rescues, tangled relationships, complicated chemistry, and beachside heroics that defined the original — now with an entirely new cast donning the show’s signature red swimsuits, contemporary trappings, tensions and challenges, and a renewed mission to protect Southern California’s shoreline,” reads the show’s official description.

Baywatch is created and executive-produced by Matt Nix (Burn Notice), who also acts as showrunner. Nix is joined by the original show’s creators, Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, and Doug Schwartz, and Dante Di Loreto as executive producers.
