Taylor Swift fans and Marvel enthusiasts may need to shake off their disbelief after a new report breathed fresh life into one of the MCU’s most enduring casting sagas. An industry insider seems to have just dropped an update that suggests the popstar’s superhero debut is no longer a question of if, but when.
Taylor Swift rumored to join the MCU very soon
Taylor Swift continues to generate Marvel Cinematic Universe buzz. Industry scooper MyTimeToShineHello posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Remember she is joining the MCU soon.” The insider’s latest post follows months of persistent rumors linking the popstar to Marvel Studios.
This marks the most recent development in a long-running saga. Reports first surfaced after Swift attended a Chiefs-Jets game in 2023. She appeared alongside Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy, Ryan Reynolds, and Hugh Jackman. That public appearance then fueled widespread speculation about a surprise cameo in the film. However, Swift ultimately did not appear in Deadpool & Wolverine.
The rumors never fully subsided despite that absence. Insider DanielRPK previously reported that Swift met with several studios about future projects. Those discussions reportedly included a limited series, a big sci-fi film, and a superhero role. MyTimeToShineHello separately corroborated that Swift held meetings with Marvel Studios about an undisclosed role.
Meanwhile, Dazzler remains the leading fan-favorite guess for Swift’s potential character. The mutant connection dates back to 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse. That film’s deleted scene notably featured Swift’s likeness on a fictional Dazzler album cover. Marvel Studios currently has an X-Men reboot in development for the MCU. Other speculated characters include Gwenpool and The Blonde Phantom.
Beyond Marvel, Swift’s past film credits include The Giver, Cats, and Amsterdam. She has reportedly expressed interest in diving back into acting following her Eras Tour. Additionally, acting legend Sir Michael Caine praised Swift in his memoir, Don’t Look Back, You’ll Trip Over. He called her “incredible, a giant star” and noted her hard work behind her achievements.
Neither Marvel Studios nor Swift’s representatives have confirmed any casting discussions.
