Olivia Rodrigo appeared on Saturday Night Live and made a joke that quickly gained attention. It referenced her past with Jake Paul. The two previously worked together on the Disney Channel series Bizaardvark.
Jake Paul responds to Olivia Rodrigo’s SNL Monologue
The moment was part of her opening monologue. It mixed humor with a callback. The line compared their career paths and also highlighted how both reached their goals in very different ways.
During her monologue, Rodrigo recalled their time on Bizaardvark. She mentioned how they used to talk about their futures. She said she wanted to create music that explores real experiences.
Rodrigo then joked that Jake Paul wanted to fight older men, referencing his 2024 boxing match with Mike Tyson on Netflix. She said, “When I was 13, I was on a Disney show called Bizaardvark. We had an incredible cast, which included acting legend Jake Paul.”
“We’d always talk about our futures, me and Jake. I’d say, ‘I really want to create music that explores the complexities of girls my age.’ And he’d say, ‘Well, one day I really want to beat up old guys on Netflix.’ And we both did it! Hurray,” she continued.
The line spread online quickly. While some found it funny, others questioned the tone. It became a talking point soon after the episode aired. Paul later responded on X, formerly known as Twitter. He said both of them “had the vision.” He added that he always believed she would sell out stadiums.
When a fan said Olivia Rodrigo was mocking him. Paul responded, “I got that she was making a joke at my expense. So what. She’s on SNL and that’s what they are supposed to do. Doesn’t change my admiration of her and her success.”
On Instagram, he also shared a Bizaardvark post and reposted a message from his promotion MVP on his story, which read, “From making a show on Disney to both reaching the biggest stages… The jokes on who?”

It referenced how both moved from Disney to different stages in their careers.
