A recent report has offered new details about Anya Taylor-Joy’s possible role in The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. The update has added some more information to earlier speculation about her involvement. Though Warner Bros. has not confirmed her casting, the report has nevertheless drawn attention to the film’s potential lineup.
Anya Taylor-Joy could play a newly created character in new LOTR movie
Anya Taylor-Joy is reportedly being considered for a role in The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, with early updates suggesting she may portray a newly created character. The development comes shortly after Warner Bros. unveiled the film’s principal cast at CinemaCon, though Taylor-Joy was not named, leaving her involvement unclear despite ongoing speculation.
According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, the character associated with Taylor-Joy is called Seren. The name does not appear in the writings of J. R. R. Tolkien, indicating that the project may expand beyond existing source material by introducing new characters. Richtman also noted that there is no confirmation on whether Taylor-Joy remains attached to the movie, which could explain her absence from the official cast reveal.
The name has also prompted discussion about the character’s true identity. According to Comic Book Movie, some fans suggested that “Seren” may not be final. A common theory connects the role to Arwen, the daughter of Elrond, previously played by Liv Tyler in earlier films. However, as of now, there has been no confirmation supporting this theory.
The Hunt for Gollum will focus on the titular character, also known as Sméagol, and is set before the events of the main trilogy. The film’s confirmed cast includes Andy Serkis, Ian McKellen, Elijah Wood, Lee Pace, Jamie Dornan, Leo Woodall, and Kate Winslet. It is scheduled to be released on December 17, 2027.
