Controversial X-Men Storyline Finally Happening With Dead MCU Hero — Report

Marvel Studios is reportedly set to tackle one of the most polarizing storylines in Marvel Comics history, with a fallen MCU hero rumoured to take centre stage. The studio will reportedly resurrect the divisive arc for live-action in an upcoming saga of the franchise.

Marvel rumored to adapt House of M storyline in near future

Marvel Studios reportedly plans to adapt the House of M storyline from Marvel Comics in an upcoming MCU saga. Notably, scooper MyTimeToShineHello shared the update on X (formerly Twitter) on April 26, 2026.

Sharing images of Scarlet Witch and House of M poster in a post on the social media platform, the insider wrote, “It’s finally happening in the next Saga.” Subsequently, the brief message fueled speculation among fans about how Marvel could bring the storyline to live action.

For context, writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Olivier Coipel created House of M as a limited Marvel Comics series in 2005.

Specifically, the comic follows Professor Charles Xavier, who orchestrates a plan to enlist the Avengers and the X-Men to kill Wanda Maximoff. Notably, her grief over losing her twin sons triggers destructive, reality-altering consequences. However, before the heroes enact the assignment, Scarlet Witch creates a new world that grants every living person’s wildest dreams.

Within this new reality, Wanda’s father, Magneto, rules the planet as its supreme leader. Meanwhile, no one remembers their past lives, except for Wolverine. Subsequently, he gathers his fellow super-powered allies and reboots their memories. A young mutant named Layla Miller assists him in the process.

Notably, the 2021 Disney+ series WandaVision drew loose inspiration from the storyline, in which she reunited with her sons. However, the rumoured adaptation will reportedly bring the arc to the main saga.

In 2025, Elizabeth Olsen participated in a panel discussion at ComicCon LA. She expressed her love for House of M, saying, “I mean, I just think that House of M is just the coolest. I don’t how to make it make sense… Maybe there’s some fan pitches or theories out there. But I just think it could be so fun to deal with X-Men and Avengers, and ‘No more mutants.'”

Marvel Studios has yet to officially confirm the rumored House of M adaptation.
