Gavin Newsom Slams Reported Cost of Donald Trump Playing Golf

California Governor Gavin Newsom has launched a brand new attack on President Donald Trump, this time targeting the hefty price tag associated with the latter’s frequent golf outings. He highlights a new report detailing what American taxpayers are spending on Trump’s preferred pastime during his second term.

Newsom responded to a post on X that outlined the scale of spending tied to Trump’s golf habits. Reacting to the figures, his press office wrote, “$100 million — not spent on food assistance, health care, housing, or veterans. Just golf!”

According to a report by HuffPost, Donald Trump’s golf-related expenses have already crossed $101.2 million since the start of his second term last year. The figure represents roughly two-thirds of the $151.5 million spent during his entire first term, indicating a faster rate of spending this time around.

The report further noted that Trump has visited golf courses 110 times in just 14 months. At this pace, projections suggest the total cost could reach $300 million by the end of his current term. These outings have continued even during weekends amid the ongoing Iran war. It began on February 28.

Reports indicate that thirteen American service members have died so far, while nearly 2,000 people have been killed in Iran. In a March 1 address, Trump acknowledged the likelihood of further casualties, stating that “there will likely be more” American deaths as the situation develops. Meanwhile, The Washington Post reported that the Pentagon has deployed thousands of troops to the region in preparation for a possible extended ground operation.

Overall, Gavin Newsom has continued to target Donald Trump on multiple fronts. In a previous post, he criticized a White House-backed parody website, writing, “The White House spent more time launching a parody porn website than lowering your gas prices this week.” After Iran shut down the Strait of Hormuz on March 2, disrupting an important global oil route, gas prices in the U.S. significantly rose.
