NVIDIA CEO Breaks Silence on DLSS 5 AI Visuals Backlash

It looks like the NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang is finally opening up and addressing the growing criticism around DLSS 5. Frankly, it’s quite clear that he’s in no mood to hold back. As consistent debates seem to be heating up around AI-generated visuals, Huang is actively dismissing concerns, standing by it. Furthermore, he has also been stating that critics are “completely wrong” about the technology.

It’s quite safe to say that DLSS 5, NVIDIA’s latest leap in AI-powered graphics, has sparked quite a lot of backlash from gamers who feel the tech prioritises artificial frame generation over authentic rendering. Furthermore, it seems like many have also argued that it will end up blurring the line between real performance and AI-assisted output, which wouldn’t be in the best interests of gamers out there.

However, Huang seems to be adamantly defending this innovation. They are also emphasising the possibility that AI is the future of gaming visuals, and without this, the whole industry will remain stuck in the past. According to him, technologies like DLSS are designed to enhance performance and deliver smoother gameplay experiences. Furthermore, he has also clarified that the aim is not to replace traditional rendering entirely, but instead, to take it to the next level.

If anything, this controversy has clearly highlighted a growing divide in the gaming community, especially between those embracing AI-driven enhancements and those extremely wary of losing visual authenticity in gaming. In fact, Huang responded to this question by Tom’s Hardware by saying, “Well, first of all, they’re completely wrong, it’s not post-processing… It’s generative control at the geometry level.” Despite this backlash, NVIDIA appears to be confident that DLSS 5 will define the next era of graphics and, therefore, plans to stand by the same.
