A source recently claimed that Timothee Chalamet wasn’t invited to the Dune 3 trailer launch due to his recent Oscar loss and his high-profile relationship with Kylie Jenner. The event reportedly aimed to keep the focus solely on the film and avoid any unnecessary distractions or off-topic questions. However, it is to be noted that Chalamet did make an appearance at the event via video call.
Timothee Chalamet didn’t skip Dune 3 trailer launch, sources suggest
An insider exclusively told Rob Shuter that Timothee Chalamet did not appear at the Dune 3 trailer launch as he wasn’t invited to avoid unnecessary attention and keep the event focused solely on the film. They reveal that he has become a “distraction,” whose presence could prompt questions around the Oscar snub and his popular relationship with Kylie Jenner, potentially driving away attention from the movie.
Revealing that the cast was pleased, the event remained focused on the final chapter of the franchise. A source added, “The cast was relieved. This way the spotlight stayed on the film.” They clarified that his absence had nothing to do with his lead performance in the movie, but rather the constant media attention surrounding him. “He’s become a tabloid story. And right now, that’s a liability,” the insider said. They further added that not inviting Chalamet was purely a move to “protect” the film.
Chalamet was nominated for the Best Actor category for Marty Supreme at the Oscars. Initially, he was considered a favorite nominee to win the category but was unfortunately snubbed at the main event. The Oscar then went to Michael B. Jordan for his dual performance in The Sinners. Not just Chalamet lost out on the actor category, but the film also took home no awards, despite receiving nine nominations. At the event, he was also mocked a couple of times for his controversial take on ballet and opera.
