Miley Cyrus knows exactly what comes with a Super Bowl halftime show, and she isn’t pretending it’s easy. As speculation builds around potential headliners for Super Bowl LXI, Cyrus addressed the buzz in a recent interview, admitting the scale of the event feels overwhelming, even for a seasoned performer.
To Miley Cyrus, headlining Super Bowl is ‘too much pressure’ because of millions watching
Following Bad Bunny’s headline-grabbing performance at the 2026 Super Bowl, conversations quickly turned to who might take the stage next. According to betting platform FanDuel, Cyrus has emerged as a top contender even ahead of Taylor Swift. Asked directly whether she would consider performing, Cyrus didn’t dismiss the idea. Instead, she acknowledged the weight of it on Variety.
“I always think the Super Bowl feels like too much pressure,” she said, explaining that the sheer scale of the audience can be intimidating. “I would have to do the mental work of making it not about the Super Bowl, because then you can’t help but go, ‘It’s millions of people, and it’s the most-watched thing in the world.’”
Still, Cyrus hinted she might accept the challenge if she “could find a way to make it exactly what the Hannahversary was—taking a journey through the discography and appreciating each song, each era for what it is — I think I could find it in myself.”
Cyrus also spoke about her upcoming 20th anniversary celebration of Hannah Montana, and made it clear she’s taking the project seriously. “We did not want irony. This is not a joke,” she said, addressing expectations around the nostalgic return. The special will include a performance of “Best of Both Worlds,” marking the first time she has performed the song since 2008.
Reflecting on her career, Cyrus credited her audience for shaping her path. “I didn’t want this to be a viral moment. My point of doing this was not to break the internet. My entire life is because of that loyalty,” she said, noting that the anniversary project is meant to make fans feel seen. The celebration will also feature a surprise appearance from Selena Gomez, another Disney alum.
