Virgin River tops Netflix streaming charts
The romantic drama Virgin River has recently climbed to the top of the streaming rankings in the United States, overtaking another major show on Netflix. According to the latest data from FlixPatrol, the series reached number 1 on the platform’s U.S. Top 10 chart on March 15, surpassing Bridgerton, which had previously been leading the rankings.
The shift comes shortly after the release of Virgin River season 7, which premiered on March 12. The series stars Alexandra Breckenridge as Melinda “Mel” Monroe, a nurse practitioner who relocates from Los Angeles to the small Northern California community of Virgin River in search of a fresh start. Martin Henderson co-stars as Jack Sheridan.
The latest seventh season follows the couple as they begin married life while building a future together on their farm. Their story also explores the challenges they face while navigating adoption and caring for a child with a serious heart condition.
Before Virgin River rose to the top of the chart, Bridgerton season 4 had been dominating Netflix’s U.S. rankings. The show held the top spot on Netflix’s U.S. charts during the week of March 2 to March 8. The new season focuses on Benedict Bridgerton, portrayed by Luke Thompson, and his romantic storyline with Sophie Baek, played by Yerin Ha. Their connection begins after the former encounters a mysterious woman at a masquerade ball organized by his mother, Lady Violet Bridgerton. The woman, later revealed to be Sophie, comes from a very different social background, creating complications within London’s strict social structure.
