Jason Bateman’s New 87% RT Show Almost Takes Down The Pitt in Streaming Wars

David Harbour and Jason Bateman are making noise on streaming charts with their new series. For a brief moment, his latest series climbed past HBO Max hit The Pitt, showing just how tight the platform’s current streaming battle has become.

DTF St. Louis and The Pitt tussle for top spot in HBO Max TV shows streaming charts

The streaming race on HBO Max has turned into a close contest between two very different shows. After the latest episode dropped, The Pitt reclaimed the No. 1 spot on the platform’s charts. But before that happened, DTF St. Louis briefly overtook it and held the top position. David Harbour’s comedy series has since slipped back to No. 2, though its surge shows how quickly the rankings can shift (via Flix Patrol).

The Pitt continues to draw strong viewership. The medical drama follows doctors and nurses in a hectic emergency department, juggling intense cases and personal struggles during long, grueling shifts. Its realistic storytelling and high-stakes hospital scenes help the show connect with audiences. The cast features Noah Wyle, Katherine LaNasa, Shawn Hatosy, Patrick Ball, and others. Noah Wyle earned a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his work on the show. As for now, Season 2 sits at an impressive 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

DTF St. Louis, on the other hand, is quickly carving out its own following. The show stars David Harbour as a middle-aged man trying his luck in modern dating, only to find himself in a whirlpool of problems. The show blends awkward, laugh-out-loud moments with character-focused storytelling, following Harbour’s character as he jumps back into dating after years away. The supporting cast packs major talents too, including Jason Bateman, Linda Cardellini, Joy Sunday, and Richard Jenkins. On Rotten Tomatoes, the show holds an impressive rating of 87%.

Although The Pitt currently holds the crown again, the brief takeover by DTF St. Louis proves the competition on HBO Max is far from settled. With new episodes continuing to drop, the top spot could change hands again as viewers keep streaming both series.
