1st Live-Action Moana Trailer Could Release Very Soon

A new report has surfaced, suggesting when fans can expect the next official trailer for Moana‘s live-action adaptation to drop. The teaser for the upcoming film, launching in theaters later this year, dropped four months ago. It was accompanied by the official poster, highlighting the live-action iteration of the eponymous protagonist.

Live-action Moana trailer rumored to release soon

Known scooper Cryptic4KQual first claimed that the official Moana trailer would be paired with Hoppers in theaters. They suggested that the footage would exclusively play in theaters “for a few days” before making its way online.

However, after a fan who saw the latter film revealed that they didn’t see Moana’s official trailer, the scooper claimed that it would be released online soon.

But the scoop must be taken with a grain of salt as it doesn’t come from official sources. Disney has yet to officially reveal when the next trailer will drop.

The teaser trailer dropped on November 17, 2025, along with the official poster. It showcases various shots from the film accompanied by an updated rendition of the song, “How Far I’ll Go,” originally performed by Auliʻi Cravalho, who voices Moana in the animated films. The footage has garnered over 9 million views as of writing since its release.

The Moana live-action movie hits theaters on July 10. The story follows the titular character as she embarks on a voyage from her home in Motunui to bring prosperity to her people after being prompted by a summons from the ocean. She is accompanied on her journey beyond the barrier reef by Maui, a shapeshifting demigod.

Off-Broadway and Broadway director Thomas Kail directed the film, marking his feature directorial debut. Meanwhile, Dwayne Johnson, Dany and Hiram Garcia, Beau Flynn, and Lin-Manuel Miranda produced the film, while Cravalho serves as an executive producer. Mark Mancina composed the film’s musical score, having previously done so for the original animated movie and its sequel.

Catherine Laga’aia stars as Moana in her feature film debut. Dwayne Johnson co-stars as Maui, reprising his role from the animated films. The supporting cast includes John Tui, Frankie Adams, and Rena Owen.
