Apple Added These New Emojis in iOS 26.4 Beta Update — Report

Apple has reportedly made brand-new additions like the Bigfoot emoji, a distorted face, a treasure chest, and more in the latest iOS 26.4 beta update. On Monday, March 9, a week after the release of iOS 26.4 developer beta 3, the American tech giant revealed the fourth developer-focused beta of iOS 26.4. The American tech giant introduced a new set of fun and quirky emojis, first previewed in July last year with Unicode 17.

Apple has reportedly added new emojis to its roster in the new iOS 26.4 beta update. There are eight new emojis that include: Trombone, Treasure Chest, Orca, Landslide, Fight Cloud, Distorted Face, Bigfoot, and Ballet Dancers. (via Apple Insider).

A new “Apple core” emoji was previewed in Unicode 17. However, it is to be noted that it does not appear to be available in Monday’s iOS 26.4 developer beta. As per Business Standard, Apple allows iPhone users to create their own custom “Genmoji,” wherein users can curate their personalized, custom emojis by writing a description or using their photos. But users must know that ultimately, the American tech giant decides which emojis are to be added to iPhones. However, an entirely different entity manages the creation and curation of these emojis.

Notably, the Unicode Consortium is a non-profit group that manages the Unicode standard. They shared that the new emojis added in the new iOS 26.4 beta update “have long-standing symbolic meanings, are visually distinctive, and contain multitudes of expression.”

Avid Apple users are aware that the American tech giant adopts new emojis in the spring of each year. Typically, it is several months after the Unicode Consortium unveils new characters. Fans have reacted to these newly added Apple emojis. One fan commented, “tbh that fight cloud emoji would be awesome if it was real.”

A second fan wrote, “Distorted Face is about to become the most used emoji overnight.” A third fan remarked, “Can’t wait to spam this when ppl are arguing….” Finally, one fan quipped, “Me when I realize it’s already March and I have 0 New Year’s resolutions done.”
