Donald Trump’s Prayer Session With US Pastors Leaves People Baffled

Social media users are reacting to a video that appears to show Donald Trump hosting a group of pastors inside the Oval Office for a prayer session. The footage captures the religious leaders gathered closely around him while a prayer is delivered for the nation and its armed forces. While the scene appeared intended as a spiritual moment of support, many viewers online said they found the unusual setting and format puzzling.

People react to Donald Trump hosting pastors from across US to pray in Oval Office

The viral clip was shared online by White House Communications Advisor Margo Martin, who posted the footage to X (formerly Twitter). In the video, Donald Trump is seated behind the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office while several pastors from across the United States stand around him. Many of them place a hand on his shoulders or arms as a prayer is delivered.

One pastor appears to lead the prayer, while others bow their heads or softly echo his words. During the prayer, the speaker asks for protection for the president and members of the U.S. military.

“I pray for your grace and your protection over him,” the pastor says in the clip. “I pray for your grace and your protection over our troops and all of our men and women serving in our armed forces.” He continues by asking for guidance and strength for the president as he leads the nation, concluding with a reference to the phrase “one nation under God.”

The video quickly spread online, prompting a wide range of responses from viewers. Many social media users said they were unsure how to interpret the moment. Some simply asked questions about the practice.

One commenter wrote, “How bizarre is this, really. Why is everyone holding onto him during the prayer?” Another person added, “Why are they praying like this? Is this normal behavior?” Others reacted more reflectively, focusing on the message of the prayer itself. One user commented, “Father, let wisdom direct every signature on policies and agreements.”

Still, some viewers questioned the public nature of the moment. “Prayer and cameras. Prayer is a private moment not a photo op,” a person wrote. A comment asked, “Were any Catholic priests invited?”
