Savannah Guthrie Had a Speech Prepared for ‘Today’ Show Colleagues After Return

While marking her return to the “TODAY” show on March 5, Savannah Guthrie reportedly expressed her gratitude to her colleagues. Guthrie walked into Studio 1A for her first official visit to the set since her mother, Nancy Guthrie, disappeared on February 1 — the incident that has lately forced the anchor away from the show. Reportedly, Guthrie just wanted to show her gratitude to her work family on the show.

The “TODAY” show and NBC Nightly News reported that Savannah Guthrie wished to see the people who have worked beside her for years. She also wanted to thank them for all that they have done for her off-camera, while also talking about her return to the show. Guthrie thanked the staff and crew for their love and prayers, and for “caring about my mom as much as I do.”

Moreover, during the emotional reunion, Guthrie wanted her colleagues to know: “I’m still standing, and I still have hope, and I’m still me. And I don’t know what version of me that will be, but it will be.” She added, “I’m holding onto my faith. I still believe. And as my mom would say, ‘Where else would I go?’”

Furthermore, the anchor clarified that she wants to return to the show, reportedly telling her colleagues, “I have every intention of coming back. I don’t know how to come back, but I don’t know how not to. You’re my family. And I would like to try.”

After Guthrie spoke, Dylan Dreyer led a group prayer. Before she left, she reportedly hugged everyone in the studio, with Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones later telling viewers that she hugged “every single person.” They also shared that Guthrie still intends to return to the “TODAY” show, even as she prioritizes her family’s effort to bring her mother, Nancy, home.
