Stefon Diggs Reportedly Getting Released from New England Patriots

The Patriots have reportedly released wide receiver Stefon Diggs. The move comes as the NFL star continues to face criminal charges tied to an alleged incident with his personal chef in 2025.

Stefon Diggs released from Patriots, reports claim

According to reports, the New England Patriots are releasing Stefon Diggs amid his ongoing legal issues. An insider league source has shared that the AFC champions will reportedly part ways with their wide receiver on Wednesday, March 11.

Diggs had signed a three-year, $69 million deal with the Patriots in March last year. He then emerged as one of the most notable presences on the team. According to ESPN, his salary cap was supposed to rise from $10.5 million to $26.5 million, which may have played a role in the Patriots’ decision. If Diggs had stayed on the roster by next week, another $6 million in his deal would have become guaranteed.

The report comes shortly after Diggs posted an Instagram story to commemorate the end of the season. “Thank you for a hell of a year. We family forever,” he wrote. Additionally, the NFL star is currently facing charges of assault and battery in connection with an alleged pay dispute with his personal chef in December 2025. She accused Diggs of hitting her in the face and strangling her with his elbow around her neck.

Diggs later pleaded not guilty to the criminal charges. His arraignment at Massachusetts’ Dedham District Court was rescheduled until after Super Bowl LX, allowing him to play in the championship game. The star is set to return to court for a pre-hearing trial on April 1, 2026.

Meanwhile, Diggs and rapper Cardi B reportedly called it quits in February 2026. The former couple shares a son, who was born in November 2025. The NFL star is also a father to two daughters from his previous relationships.
