Glen Powell-Led Hit Comedy Series Gets Another Release Date Update

Glen Powell‘s sports comedy show has received a major update regarding the release date of the next season. The inaugural season launched on Hulu last year and comprised six episodes. The ending left viewers wondering what was next for the eponymous protagonist, thus fueling anticipation for the follow-up season. The second season was confirmed two months later.

In addition to starring in the series, Powell co-created it with Michael Waldron. The supporting cast includes Perry Mattfield, Quentin Plair, Wynn Everett, Frankie Rodriguez, and Steve Zahn, among others.

Chad Powers Season 2 filming could confirm late 2026 release date

Michael Waldron recently revealed that Chad Powers Season 2 wrapped filming on his Instagram stories. The update comes two months after the series’ official social media accounts confirmed that it had started production.

An exact release date is yet to be confirmed. However, given that production has wrapped, it’s possible that the series may make it to its October 2026 release date. Last year, Waldron revealed in an r/movies AMA for Chad Powers on Reddit that they planned to drop the second installment around the same time as the first one, the following year. Considering how Season 1 aired between September and October 2025, this makes the aforementioned date very likely.

Plot details for Season 2 are being kept under wraps. However, it will most likely pick up from where the previous season left off. The Season 1 finale saw Ricky Hudson discover Chad Powers’ true identity as Russ Holliday. She subsequently threatened to expose him if he didn’t leave the South Georgia Catfish. However, Powers countered her threat, pointing out that if she did, her father and Catfish head coach, Jake’s career would be ruined.

Glen Powell told Deadline he wanted to feature his college, the University of Texas, in the second season. “If we get a Season 2, which as long as the world begs for it and cheers as loud as we think they should, I will definitely be showing the Texas Longhorns,” he shared. “The Catfish will definitely be playing the Longhorns somewhere in Season 2.”
