Cillian Murphy Reacts to Taylor Swift’s Opalite Music Video Appearance

Cillian Murphy spoke about appearing in Taylor Swift’s “Opalite” music video. Notably, Swift appeared on The Graham Norton Show in October last year alongside the Oppenheimer star, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Lewis Capaldi. All the artists, alongside host Graham Norton, star in the much-anticipated music video. Notably, “Opalite” also charted at number one on Billboard’s Hot 100.

Cillian Murphy reacts to being in Taylor Swift’s “Opalite” music video. In a brief interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Oscar winner talked about starring alongside Swift and whether he will play Voldemort in HBO’s reboot of Harry Potter. The host remarked, “We have to take a moment to celebrate, you are in Taylor’s music video ‘Opalite.’ Tell me what that experience was like for you?”

The Peaky Blinders star replied with a smile, “It’s amazing, we were all on the sofa together and then she reached out, and of course we all said yeah. It’s good, it’s a really sweet, lovely song and video. I was happy to be involved.”

Swifties are gushing over Murphy’s reaction to starring in a Swift music video. One fan commented, “Cillian Murphy doing a Taylor Swift music video was not on my 2026 bingo card, but here we are.” A second fan quipped, “He rejects the MCU but is happy to do a Taylor MV. I just find that so funny.” A third fan wrote, “She keeps winning,” followed by multiple crying emojis. A fourth fan penned, “Swifties will be supporting you, king.”

In an Instagram post on February 6, Swift explained how the whole thing came about. Swift wrote, “I remember thinking I got ridiculously lucky with the group I was paired with. Cillian Murphy, Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, Jodie Smith, and Lewis Capaldi. All people whose work I’ve admired from afar.”

She revealed how Gleeson “made a light-hearted joke about wanting to be in one of my music videos.” Furthermore, the singer admitted that she decided to cast her fellow attendees in the music video for “Opalite” and likened this to a “group project for adults.”
