SNL takes a jab at the BAFTAs’ racial slur Tourette’s incident in a new skit. For those unversed, Tourette’s syndrome campaigner John Davidson shouted the racial slur (the N word) at Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo, who were on stage presenting an award during the BAFTAs. Host Alan Cumming later apologized for the untoward incident. Saturday Night Live satirized the incident in a skit poking fun at celebrities using the neurological condition to justify bad behavior.
SNL takes a jibe at BAFTA Tourette’s incident
SNL took a swipe at the BAFTAs’ recent Tourette’s incident by calling out celebrities who use the neurological condition to justify poor conduct. The sketch did not make it to the air, but SNL posted it on YouTube on Sunday, March 1. In the quirky SNL sketch, several controversial celebrities reveal on camera that they, too, suffer from Tourette’s and use that to justify their awful public behavior.
Mel Gibson, Jill Zarin, Louis C.K., Bill Cosby, J.K. Rowling, Ye, and Armie Hammer made “appearances” on the hilarious SNL skit. Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie, who hosted last week’s SNL, portrayed Armie Hammer in the hilarious sketch.
He quipped, “Not many people know that one of the most common side effects of Tourette’s is cannibalism. You could be casually DMing with a girl, and suddenly the Tourette’s takes over, and you are typing stuff like, ‘I’m literally going to eat you.’ And she’s like, ‘LOL, what!’ And you are like, ‘I’m not LOLing or ROFLing. I’m going to drink your blood and knock the meat off your ribs like an apple piece.’”
Storrie continued further, “Since it’s Tourette’s, I guess I have to be forgiven, if not celebrated,” as the in-house audience couldn’t stop laughing.
Furthermore, fans enjoyed Ashley Padilla’s impersonation of Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling. For those unversed, the famed author got into hot water after her regressive views on trans rights. Padilla remarked, “Tourette’s isn’t just blurting out an offensive word.”
She continued, “It can be a years-long obsession with something like trans rights, and a deep anger that someone who is born with a wand in their pants would want that wand removed and replaced with a Horcrux. But now you know, it was all the Tourette’s fault, and not a bet I made with Bill Belichick to see who could destroy their legacy faster.”
