Michael B. Jordan triumphed over the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio and Timothée Chalamet to win the prize for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role at the March 1 Actor Awards. Notably, Jordan enthralled fans in a double role in the Ryan Coogler-directed feature film, Sinners.

Michael B. Jordan was pleasantly surprised when he won the award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role at the Actor Awards 2026. Based on his reaction, it seems like Jordan wasn’t expecting the win. Nonetheless, he graciously accepted the award from Viola Davis and delivered a heartwarming speech.
The Sinners star began by giving a special shoutout to his fellow nominees – Leonardo DiCaprio, Timothée Chalamet, Jesse Plemons, and Ethan Hawke. He expressed (via PEOPLE), “I’m so honored and privileged to be nominated in categories with people and actors and humans that I love. This ride has been unbelievable. So thank you for welcoming me in and making me feel seen. And y’all know how I feel about y’all.”
Jordan thanked his director, friend, and longtime collaborator, Coogler. He credited Coogler for giving him “the opportunity to show what I can do and to be fearless and to create a safe space for us to find the truth.”
The 39-year-old actor expressed his gratitude to his fellow castmates – Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Delroy Lindo, and Wunmi Mosaku. Interestingly, the Sinners cast collectively bagged the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture award later in the evening.
Jordan also showcased his love and gratitude to his mother, Donna, for driving him “back and forth to New York” for auditions. He recalled his struggling days, stating, “We didn’t have enough money to go through the Holland Tunnel, we were looking for gas money, parking spaces.”
Jordan concluded by sharing, “Man, just being in this room right now with all these people who saw me grow up in front of the camera and in these rooms, I feel the love and support that you’ve always given me and encouraged me to go on and do my best.”
