Luke Thompson recently addressed growing speculation about Benedict Bridgerton’s role in Season 5 of Bridgerton. The actor has now offered insight into whether his character’s story will continue.

Luke Thompson on whether Bridgerton Season 5 will see Benedict’s return

As speculation builds around the future of Bridgerton, Luke Thompson has addressed whether Benedict Bridgerton’s story ends with Season 4. The latest chapter concludes with Benedict’s engagement to Sophie Baek, portrayed by Yerin Ha, but Thompson does not believe the Season 4 finale marks his character’s final appearance.

In a recent interview with Parade, Thompson expressed confidence that Benedict will remain a part of the series moving forward. He said, “I doubt it. I doubt it. He’s part of the family, so I’m sure he’ll still be around as well as, you know, making way for the new siblings, but, yeah, of course, of course.” When asked about the direction of the character, he noted it ultimately depends on the creative team behind the series. “We shall see,” he said.

The Netflix series’s leading characters do not necessarily disappear once their central romance concludes. For instance, Jonathan Bailey and Luke Newton have continued to reprise their roles in subsequent seasons. Thompson explained that returning to long-standing character dynamics adds depth to the series. “I actually love those scenes with Johnny [Bailey] in Part 2. I think they’re really interesting scenes because there’s that history. There’s that sort of four season history behind it,” he said.

Season 4 shifts the spotlight to Benedict after three seasons of following his siblings’ romances. Thompson admitted he feels “a little bit emotional” now that Benedict’s arc has concluded. “It is quite strange being [on] the other side of it,” he added. Despite the emotional shift, the actor expressed pride in the Netflix drama. He said, “It’s been a huge part of my career. I’m very, very proud of the show.”
