Rapper Lil Yatchy opens up about unaired Drake interview

Lil Yachty recently shed light on his unaired A Safe Place podcast episode with Drake, which has triggered fans’ intrigue for quite some time now. The rapper revealed that distancing himself from the Drake-Kendrick Lamar feud cost him an episode with the God’s Plan singer.

During his appearance on the February 25 episode of The Bootleg Kev Podcast with Concrete Boys, Lil Yachty revealed Drake was on his show. However, the episode was scrapped to avoid aligning its release with the peak of the Canadian rapper’s 2024 feud with Lamar.

It was a situation the Pardon Me singer wished to avoid involvement in. Yachty shared, “[It was recorded] right before the Kendrick thing. It was good, too, it was really funny.” He added, “It was such a funny interview. We never put it out.”

Explaining why he has kept a low profile on the beef, Yachty said that Drake and Lamar are grown men, and also shared that the IDGAF singer didn’t seek his advice on the feud. “I don’t know why people think I was influencing him,” he had said in another interview. Yachty further revealed that he was disconnected from the feud while he was in Europe.

A co-writer on Drake’s albums Her Loss and For All the Dogs, Yachty was referenced in Lamar’s Euphoria. Explaining his stance, the musician said, “I don’t think it put me in a weird place. I was with Drake, for sure. So, like, it wasn’t like a limbo.” While he acknowledged the situation was sticky, the rapper didn’t feel it put him in a weird spot.
