The Bluff 2 Director on if Sequel With Priyanka Chopra Jonas Could Happen

As The Bluff starts gaining traction on Prime Video, director Frank E. Flowers has spoken about whether a sequel could follow. The pirate action-thriller stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas in the lead role, and fans are already asking if her story will continue. Flowers now shares where things stand and how he feels about expanding the film’s world.

Flowers did not shut down sequel talk. He admitted the idea stays on his mind often. The filmmaker, who co-wrote and directed the movie, spoke highly of his collaboration with the AGBO banner led by the Russo Brothers and with Amazon and MGM Studios. He said both studios backed the project from day one and showed real belief in it.

Still, he kept expectations grounded. He said nothing is official and that he can “only hope and pray that we have opportunities to tell more stories.“ He stressed the team wanted to serve a “whole meal” with this movie, not just set up another chapter (via Screenrant).

The R-rated thriller centers on Ercell Bodden, played by Priyanka Chopra Jonas, a woman living a quiet life on a Cayman Island in the 19th century. She stays focused on her son and family. Everything shifts when pirate Captain Connor, portrayed by Karl Urban, storms in hunting for gold.

By the finale, the plot wraps up cleanly, and the characters meet their fate. Still, director Flowers believes that “There’s a lot more story to tell — there’s always a lot more story to tell — especially when you have people like Priyanka and Karl.” Flowers also said that many deeper character details never made it onscreen.

The door is still wide open for what comes next. A follow-up could track Ercell’s life after the world learns she is Bloody Mary. A prequel could rewind the clock and dive deep into her pirate days. There is plenty of story left on the table. Right now, the film holds a 68% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
