Season 3 of Hit Netflix Show Gets a Massive Viewership Drop

The latest installment of a Netflix spy thriller secured a top spot on the platform’s list of top 10 shows, but suffered considerably in terms of viewership. Season 3 of the show’s viewership numbers are significantly lower than those of previous seasons.

The Night Agent Season 3 stands at #2, but gets less viewership

As of February 25, 2026, The Night Agent Season 3 is reportedly the #2 show on Netflix in the United States (via What’s on Netflix). However, it has experienced lower viewership in its opening week compared to the previous seasons in their respective opening weeks.

Notably, the viewership seems to have experienced a steady decline with each season following the inaugural installment. Season 2 suffered a noticeable 32% drop in viewership from Season 1. Meanwhile, Season 3 suffered even more, seeing a 40% drop from Season 2 and 59% from Season 1.

Here are the viewership statistics of the current season and the previous seasons of the Netflix spy show:

  • Season 1 (March 23, 2023); Opening week (March 19-26):
    • Hours viewed – 168,710,000
    • Views – 20,600,00
    • #1 Position and part of the Weekly Top 10s in 92 countries
  • Season 2 (January 23, 2025); Opening Week (January 19-26)
    • Hours viewed – 119,900,000
    • Views – 13,900,000
    • #1 Position and part of the Weekly Top 10s in 75 countries
  • Season 3 (February 19, 2026); Opening Week (February 15-22)
    • Hours viewed – 73,200,000
    • Views – 8,400,000
    • #2 Position and part of the Weekly Top 10s in 50 countries

Despite The Night Agent’s seemingly declining viewership, the series’ future looks quite promising. While Season 4 hasn’t been officially confirmed, the showrunner Shawn Ryan told Deadline that a writer’s room was quietly established in 2025. He added, “We’ve been working for a while on the storyline. We have some scripts, we are breaking stories.”

However, The Night Agent lead, Gabriel Basso, cast some doubt on his future in the series. While speaking to ScreenRant, he told the outlet he had no desire to play Peter Sutherland longer than he had to, so as not to frustrate fans. He shared, “What I don’t want to do is be the fighter that you’re watching, and you’re like, ‘Dude, you should have retired six fights ago.’ I don’t want that.”
