Robert De Niro delivered an emotional and sharply worded message about Donald Trump during a recent podcast appearance. The Oscar winner did not hold back, urging Americans to stay united and push back against what he described as a troubling political moment.
Robert De Niro slams Donald Trump in emotional statement
Speaking on The Best People With Nicolle Wallace, Robert De Niro became visibly emotional while talking about the current political climate. The veteran star warned that the country faces a serious moment. He urged citizens to step up and take action. De Niro said the nation’s story is at risk and accused Donald Trump of “destroying” it. He bluntly called the situation “sick” and “f***ed up,” adding that Americans must work to save the country.
The Casino alum pushed even harder. He labeled Trump an “enemy of this country.” De Niro argued that unity is the only way forward. He said people must come together, vote them out, and get the nation “back on track.” Throughout the conversation, he repeatedly told Americans to resist, saying public pressure remains the most powerful tool.
At one point in the conversation, Robert De Niro explained why unity matters so much to him. His voice cracked as he said people need to “lift people up” and come together. He stressed that division never leads to real wins. De Niro later called the current moment a no-win situation, but said Americans still have a duty to protect the country.
The outspoken actor has taken aim at Donald Trump for years. In October 2025, he appeared in a video for Indivisible backing the No Kings protests. In that message, he warned about what he described as a “would-be king” and declared that people were rising again to say, “No Kings.”
The back-and-forth between Donald Trump and Robert De Niro is nothing new. In 2018, Trump fired off a jab and called the actor a “very Low IQ individual” after De Niro publicly criticized him.
