Justin Trudeau’s Son Xavier Makes Rare Comment About Katy Perry

Justin Trudeau’s son Xavier has shared his take on Katy Perry after his father pursued a romance with the “Roar” singer. Trudeau and Perry sparked dating rumors in July 2025 and have reportedly been going strong since. Perry ended her relationship with English actor Orlando Bloom in June last year. Meanwhile, the former Canadian Prime Minister divorced his ex-wife, Sophie Grégoire, in August 2023.

Justin Trudeau’s son Xavier made a rare comment about his father’s girlfriend, Katy Perry. Two months after Perry officially confirmed the couple’s relationship, Xavier shared his take on the “California Gurls” singer.

In an Instagram interaction on February 21, G Hobs asked Xavier, “Have you met Katy Perry?” He replied, “Yes, I have met her.” Xavier added, “She’s cool, she’s nice. We talked for hours, talking about my music. She gave me advice and next steps for me and stuff.”

Trudeau and his ex-wife, Sophie Grégoire, enrolled Xavier in music classes after he showed interest in pursuing music. A few years ago, he decided to try making some beats on an impulse with his phone, and since then he has been making R&B music. Notably, the 18-year-old is pursuing his solo music career under the name Xav (via E! Online).

Xavier gushed about making music on The Brandon Gonez Show podcast in May. He shared, “I always loved music, whether it’s creating it, listening to it. I always had a passion for it.”

The 18-year-old praised his family for being supportive of his music career. Xavier shared, “They’ve been supportive since the start. Every single time I come back from the studio, I’d have something to show them, and we sit at dinner and just listen to it like, ‘Oh, I like this. I don’t like that.’” He added, “They love it. They’re happy for me. They’re happy I’m choosing my own path in life.”
