Peter Attia Exits CBS News After Getting Mentioned in Epstein Files

CBS News recently had a major shakeup in its staff. This was after one of the additions to the contributor team, Dr. Peter Attia, resigned in the wake of his name surfacing multiple times in the Jeffrey Epstein files.

This development comes roughly a month after he became a part of the team. It also comes amid growing discussion and speculation about the files, their content, and the named individuals’ connection to Epstein.

Peter Attia parts ways with CBS News less than a month after joining

Peter Attia has reportedly departed CBS News less than a month after joining. This comes after it was revealed that his name appears in the Jeffrey Epstein files more than 1700 times. The Canadian author and former researcher’s departure also comes weeks after the network pulled a 60 Minutes episode featuring him from a planned rerun. This was after the Department of Justice released files highlighting Attia and Epstein’s correspondence, which includes crude banter.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS News staff learned of Attia’s departure via a note from the booking department on Monday.

The Outlive author’s spokesperson told Entertainment Weekly that his role was “newly established” and yet to be properly realized. They stressed that Attia resigned to prevent his involvement with Epstein from becoming a “distraction” from CBS’s work. The representative added, “He wishes the network and its leadership well and has no further comment at this time.”

Before CBS pulled Attia’s 60 Minutes episode from reruns, the longevity guru shared a lengthy statement on X (formerly Twitter). This statement was from an email he sent to CBS and his patients, highlighting his relationship with Epstein. In it, he apologized for not revealing his connection to Epstein sooner. He also clarified that he wasn’t involved in criminal activity, didn’t interact with Epstein about his sexual abuse/exploitation of people, never rode on his plane, visited his island, or attended his sex parties.

Attia also expressed regret for placing himself in a compromising position with his emails to Epstein. He also admitted to having an initially naive view of Epstein, and that he didn’t realize the extent of Epstein’s offenses until he read a 2018 Miami Herald investigative article about them.
