Robert Downey Jr. hypes up Disney’s Cruise Adventure as its godparent

Robert Downey Jr. recently addressed his new role as Disney Adventure’s godparent in a new video.

The Iron Man star first briefly touched upon Disney Cruise Line’s history before highlighting how Disney Adventure will be different. He promised that the ship would offer “100 years of classic stories, all in one place, like never before.”

The actor then quickly dived into his role as godparent. He said, “The godparent christens the ship. Vowing to bring it a little luck and a lot of love.” He added that the godparent’s role on the ship is a tradition, dating back 100 years.

The Oppenheimer star called Disney Adventure “the biggest ship on Disney’s fleet.” He subsequently revealed how he responded when Disney asked him to be the godparent. He recalled saying, “It’ll be an honor, a privilege, a blast, a titillating thrill!” After searching for the perfect word to express his appreciation, he added, “Adventure.”

Disney Adventure is scheduled to start its maiden voyage from Singapore on March 10, 2026. Bookings are currently available.

The cruise ship is the eighth ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, as well as the first and only vessel of the Global class. It is preceded by Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny.

Disney Adventure houses signature Disney Entertainment and hospitality. These include character encounters, Broadway-style shows, themed staterooms, and concierge accommodations. Also present are 20 dining and lounge venues boasting world-class international and Asian-inspired cuisines.

Moreover, several Marvel-themed experiences will be a part of the cruise ship’s plethora of experiences spanning seven themed areas. One of these is Tony Stark’s Ironcycle Test Run, the first roller coaster on a Disney cruise ship, and also the longest of its kind at sea. Another is the Avengers Assemble live stage production. The production will take place in the open-air Disney Imagination Garden area. It will showcase an action-packed battle between superheroes and supervillains, complete with stunts and special effects.
