After recently getting arrested, a custody battle involving Addison Rae’s dad and his ex has taken a new turn, with a judge signing off on an agreement that will require Monty Lopez to submit a DNA test.
The development comes as Lopez remains under scrutiny for a separate Louisiana arrest tied to an alleged obscenity incident. Hence, while the legal process moves on, the dispute accompanies serious allegations and an open criminal matter that has already raised the stakes for both of the singer’s parents.

TMZ reported that Addison Rae’s dad, Monty Lopez, agreed to take a DNA test to determine whether he is the father of Lucas, the child at the center of the custody battle with his ex. A Louisiana judge reportedly approved the agreement and ordered Lopez to complete the testing within a couple of days of the order.
Moreover, Rae’s mother and Lopez’s ex, Sheri Easterling, who reportedly filed a petition late last year seeking sole custody and child support for Lucas, must pay the costs up front until the results come back.
In the court filings, Easterling allegedly asked the court to mandate supervised visits. Besides, TMZ reported that Easterling accused Lopez of verbal abuse during their relationship, while the paperwork also accused Lopez of slapping Rae when she was a child in 2008.
Easterling also claimed Lopez struggled with alcohol and faced multiple DUI arrests. The outlet further reported that Easterling pointed to Lopez’s 2025 arrest for felony obscenity as another reason she wants sole custody.
TMZ had previously reported that Lopez was arrested on July 27, 2025, over an incident that allegedly took place on August 31, 2024, when the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office accused Lopez of public obscenity. As of now, the court-ordered DNA test for Addison Rae’s dad sets the next date in the custody battle against his ex and Rae’s mother.
