The claim comes from a recent discussion by Skyler Shuler of The DisInsider, who addressed the rumors surrounding the project.
Shuler referenced speculation that the story could center on Jack Sparrow’s son and a character played by Robbie. “I assume you mean the rumor that Jack Sparrow’s son would lead the movie alongside Margot Robbie, that producer Jerry Bruckheimer said was half true. Well, the outlet that originally reported the rumor has a pretty solid trackrecord and is not one to make things up for clicks,” he stated.
According to Shuler, the studio could introduce characters who might carry the franchise forward in later films. He added, “That said, I believe Disney wants the next movie to be Johnny Depp-led alongside Margot Robbie, with hopes that future installments in the franchise can continue on with Robbie’s character and quite possibly the son of Sparrow.”
The discussion follows a separate report from industry insider Jeff Sneider. The report claimed the project could involve a story built around a new female lead and Jack Sparrow’s son. It also indicated that Oscar-nominated writer Krysty Wilson-Cairns had been in discussions about working on the screenplay.
At present, no official announcement has been made about the cast or storyline of a sixth film.
