McDonald’s New Canadian Breakfast Item Is Out, but It’s a Rare Find

It seems like McDonald’s has finally answered the prayers of their many customers. They have given in to their customers’ curiosity by turning a beloved Canadian classic, i.e., poutine, into a breakfast item on the menu, available only from 4 AM to 11 AM. But this special item is limited to some participating regions.

Therefore, it cannot be found everywhere. They rolled this out very quietly on February 17, 2026, giving early risers an unexpected twist on their morning routine, according to reports on Dexerto

McDonald’s brings Canadian classic to its breakfast menu

Classic Canadian poutine is actually made with fries, cheese, gravy, and curd. However, it seems like McDonald’s gave it their own fast food chain-coded spin with hollandaise sauce. The dish also seems to feature crispy potato bites, cheese curds, scrambled eggs, green chillies, tomatoes, onions, and sausage, for the ultimate binge-ready taste. This new dish is apparently available in a regular size for $7.99 and is also available in large.

Along with strict timing limitations, this breakfast poutine is reportedly so limited that it is insanely hard to spot. This has made a proper treasure hunt more exclusive than a genuine drive-thru staple. However, this seems to be a major move. Usually poutine is available all across local restaurants, pubs, and bars in Canada. But it seems like McDonald’s is the first global fast food chain to actually add it to their menu.

According to McDonald’s Canada, this dish has been in serious demand. They elaborated on this, saying, “Our guests have been asking for a breakfast poutine for a long time, and we are proud to unveil this exciting take on a Canadian classic.” They also further explained, “The Breakfast Poutine reflects our approach to innovation: reimagining a favourite comfort food for the morning, while staying true to the essence of the McDonald’s breakfast our guests love.” However, at this point, nobody knows if this addition will be served globally at some point.
