Kevin Durant Slams ‘Burner Account’ Accusations as ‘Nonsense’

Kevin Durant is once again facing online scrutiny after fans linked him to a controversial anonymous social media account. The NBA superstar addressed the chatter this week but made it clear he has no interest in fueling the speculation.

Kevin Durant said this on ‘burner account’ accusations

The chatter heated up during NBA All-Star weekend when an X account, @GetHigher77, started trending. Online users quickly accused the profile of secretly being run by Kevin Durant. The account allegedly fired off sharp takes about players and hinted at inside team details, which sent fans into a frenzy. So far, though, no public proof has linked the handle to the Rockets star.

After a Houston practice, Durant kept his response calm and brief. He refused to confirm or deny anything. “I know you’ve gotta ask these questions, but I’m not going to get into Twitter nonsense,” he told reporters. He further said he is concentrating on the season.

Kevin Durant also shut down any talk of locker-room drama. He insisted the atmosphere inside the team remains solid. “My teammates know what it is. We’ve been locked in the whole season,” he said. He added that the group just wrapped a strong practice and is already gearing up for the next road trip. So far, neither head coach Ime Udoka nor any Houston players have publicly addressed the situation.

Still, the fresh rumors instantly reminded fans of Durant’s past social media history. Back in 2017, he openly admitted to using burner accounts during his exit from the Oklahoma City Thunder. Those anonymous profiles let public figures post without revealing their identity. Durant previously said the approach gave him freedom to speak his mind without the usual spotlight.

“I wasn’t used to that amount of attention, you know, from playing basketball. I wanted a place where I can talk to my friends without anybody just butting in my conversations or mixing my words or taking everything out of context because I enjoyed that place,” Durant explained in an interview.
