Shia LaBeouf Allegedly Used Homophobic Slurs Before New Orleans Arrest — Report

Shia LaBeouf was recently arrested while celebrating Mardi Gras in New Orleans and is now facing allegations that he used a homophobic slur. He has since been released, but a new revelation about the events of the night of his arrest adds further controversy to the entire situation.

Reports claim Shia LaBeouf faces allegations of using homophobic slurs

According to reported police documents, Shia LaBeouf was taken into custody around 4:30 a.m. on Ash Wednesday following an incident at R Bar in the city’s Marigny neighborhood. Authorities allege that LaBeouf became increasingly aggressive and attempted to punch a bar manager who was escorting him out.

Court records reportedly state that after being removed from the establishment, LaBeouf allegedly punched Jeffrey Damnit in the upper body. He then reportedly returned and struck Nathan Thomas Reed in the nose. Police booked him on two counts of simple battery. He was later released on his own recognizance on Tuesday afternoon.

Within hours of his release, LaBeouf appeared on Bourbon Street wearing Mardi Gras beads and told a WAFB reporter: “God bless you, guys – Mardi Gras is amazing.” He later posted “Free me” on X.

Now, both alleged victims claim that Shia LaBeouf repeatedly directed homophobic slurs at them during the altercation. Jeffrey Damnit, who said he was dressed in drag and wearing makeup at the time, stated that LaBeouf tried to beat him up “while screaming, ‘You’re a f***ing f****t’.” Damnit also shared cellphone footage showing LaBeouf in the back of a vehicle telling him: “F****t.” In the same clip, Damnit can be heard responding: “Keep on calling me f****t.”

Nathan Thomas Reed, who identifies as queer, confirmed via text message. “I want it to be known that he was calling people f****t.” An initial police report reportedly included a statement attributed to LaBeouf that read: “These faggots put me in jail. ” Though that detail did not appear in a later sworn court filing outlining probable cause.

A police spokesperson declined to comment further, stating, “This remains an ongoing investigation that has to be adjudicated in court. Should additional information become available for release, we will provide an update accordingly (via The Guardian).”

LaBeouf’s next court hearing is tentatively scheduled for March 19 in New Orleans criminal court.
