The View’s Whoopi Goldberg Explains Why Her Name is in Epstein Files

Whoopi Goldberg is setting the record straight after learning her name appears in the recently released Jeffrey Epstein files. The longtime host of The View addressed the revelation head-on during the February 17 episode.

Whoopi Goldberg opens up on Epstein files mentioning her name

During the Tuesday episode of The View, Whoopi Goldberg acknowledged her name in the Epstein files while explaining exactly what the documents show. The Department of Justice released the materials as part of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, prompting the co-host to address the situation directly with her colleagues Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Sara Haines.

“In the name of transparency, my name is in the files. Yes,” Goldberg stated. “And what does it say? It says, ‘Whoopi needs a plane to get to Monaco. John Lennon’s charity’ — it should say Julian Lennon’s charity — ‘is paying for it.'” Goldberg explained that the charity was arranging transportation for her by reaching out to private plane owners. “They give all the information. And they’re saying, ‘Do you want to offer your G2?'” she added.

Hostin noted that the response appeared to be, “No thanks.” Behar then made a broader observation: “So, in other words, anybody could be on this list.” Goldberg strongly agreed, emphasizing that people shouldn’t jump to conclusions. “Anybody. This is my point, because I’m telling you, when people are trying to turn me into… I wasn’t his girlfriend, I wasn’t his friend.”

The conversation shifted when Behar mentioned President Donald Trump’s frequent appearances in the files, noting he appears “38,000 times.” Goldberg declined to speak for others but firmly addressed rumors about herself.

“I can’t speak for him, but I’m speaking about me because I’m getting dragged!” Goldberg said. “People actually believe I was with him. Honey, come on. Every man I’ve ever been with, you’ve known about. People wrote about this.”

All in all, as debate continues around the Epstein files, Whoopi Goldberg maintains that her mention in the documents reflects a declined travel inquiry and not a relationship.
