Following the announcement that a popular Hulu drama series will conclude with Season 3, fans of the show are voicing their displeasure. Despite strong buzz, steady chart performance, and a loyal online following, the series is officially wrapping up.
The announcement has sparked emotional reactions across social media, with many viewers making it clear they believe the show has more to offer.
Hulu fans aren’t ready to let Tell Me Lies end after Season 3
Tell Me Lies is officially ending with Season 3. Creator Meaghan Oppenheimer confirmed the news on Feb. 16, 2026, just a day before the finale dropped. Posting on Instagram, she told fans that after three standout seasons, that night’s episode would serve as the show’s final chapter.
Oppenheimer made it clear the call came from the creative side, not the network. She said the ending had always been the plan for her and the writers’ room, adding that the team is extremely proud of how the story wraps up. Even though the latest season sparked strong fan buzz and opened the door to possible extensions, the creators ultimately decided the narrative had reached its natural finish line. “This was always the ending my writing team and I had in mind, and we are insanely proud of it,” she wrote.
Season 3 continued to follow the messy, on-again relationship between Lucy Albright (played by Grace Van Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (played by Jackson White) as they reconnect during the spring semester at Baird College. The show’s mix of toxic romance, secrets, and cliffhangers helped it remain one of Hulu’s stronger original performers and a regular presence in the platform’s Top 15 rankings.
Online reaction to the cancellation was immediate and intense. One viewer posted a crying Spider-Man GIF, while another wrote, “I feel like I just got shot.” Others pushed for more episodes, with one fan saying, “Could’ve added two more seasons,” and another warning, “The finale better be 3 hours long to wrap up EVERYTHING or else.” Another comment read, “After tomorrow I’m gonna feel like Lucy, I can’t believe only 8 episodes… I need more.”
