Season 2 Cancellation of Netflix’s Élite Remake Confirmed by Actor

Netflix has quietly scrapped Season 2 of its Indian remake of Élite. Although the show previously received a renewal, comments from cast members and updates to its platform status signal that the planned second season will not proceed.

Élite’s Indian remake Class Season 2 was canceled by Netflix

Netflix has canceled Class Season 2, despite previously renewing it.

Actor Ayesha Kanga told Financial Express in October 2025, “It’s only bad news,” and confirmed that “it’s not happening.” On February 6, 2026, Gurfateh Pirzada further confirmed the cancellation in an Instagram post, stating, “Unfortunately, we could not give you another season because life usually has other plans.”

Netflix announced Class in late September 2022 as a Hindi adaptation of the Spanish Netflix series Élite. The Spanish original ran for eight seasons and concluded with 64 episodes. Netflix premiered the Indian adaptation on February 3, 2023. It followed three working-class students integrating into a private high school serving wealthy families.

The series appeared in Netflix’s global Top 10 Non-English Series for one week. It spent seven weeks in India’s Top 10. It also remained in the Top 10 for five weeks each in Bangladesh and Pakistan. On March 6, 2023, Netflix announced a second season as part of a broader slate of renewals in India.

In September 2024, Times of India reported that Season 2 would begin shooting “in the coming months,” but producers did not provide any further updates on the production. During a Reddit AMA, Anjali Sivaraman responded to a question about her co-stars, saying, “I am the closest to Zeyn, Madhyama and Chintan!” but did not address multiple questions about the show’s return.

Pirzada wrote that he learned of the cancellation “the last week of 2024” and added, “I came down with a high fever and thought not again…not another one of my projects getting shelved.”

Netflix has not issued a public statement. However, the platform removed the “It’s Official: Another Season is Coming” label from the show’s catalogue listing.
