Daniel Radcliffe revealed that Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard gave him a heads-up about the Harry Potter and Heated Rivalry SNL sketch. Wolfhard hosted the January 17 episode of NBC’s popular show, Saturday Night Live, shortly after wrapping the season finale of Stranger Things. Notably, he performed a mashup of the famed fantasy series Harry Potter and the breakout gay romance series, Heated Rivalry.

Daniel Radcliffe admitted that he got a warning from Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard before the Harry Potter SNL skit. Radcliffe revealed the interesting tidbit in a free-wheeling chat with Rolling Stone. The interviewer asked Radcliffe if he’s at peace with the fact that fans might only know him as Harry Potter, to which the 36-year-old actor shared that he has always been “fairly fine” with it.
The interviewer pivoted the conversation by asking if he had watched the “Heated Wizardry” skit on SNL hosted by Wolfhard. Radcliffe responded, “I did, yes. Weirdly, I had met Finn Wolfhard a few weeks before, randomly, and we chatted for a bit. And then he texted me the day before it aired, being like, ‘Hey, just so you know, we’re doing a Harry Potter sketch.’”
Furthermore, he added that although he hasn’t watched the breakout gay romance series Heated Rivalry, his partner has and she is a “huge fan.”
Radcliffe added, “I haven’t seen Heated Rivalry, although I am very aware — my girlfriend is a huge fan. I’m sure there are jokes I was missing, but it was very funny and sweet. I’m always happy to see other versions of that. It makes me laugh.”
Rolling Stone shared this tidbit in a tweet, and fans were surprised to learn that Radcliffe and Wolfhard were acquaintances. Not only that, but fans were pleased to learn that the Harry Potter star enjoyed the SNL skit.
One fan commented, “I love that Daniel is so chill about the parodies at this point. Most actors would be over the HP references, but he seems to genuinely appreciate the comedy behind it. Finn texting him the day before it aired just shows how tight that industry circle actually is.”
