Neil Gaiman’s Sexual Assault Case Reportedly Dismissed By US Judges

US judges reportedly dismiss lawsuits accusing author Neil Gaiman of s**ual assault. In a January 13 report by Vulture, multiple women discussed their alleged experiences with Gaiman. Prominently, Gaiman and his ex-wife Amanda Palmer’s former babysitter, Scarlett Pavlovich, spoke in detail against her employer. At the time, Gaiman categorically denied these allegations in a personal statement.

Author Neil Gaiman’s s**ual assault case has been reportedly dismissed by US judges. Gaiman and his ex-wife Palmer’s former nanny, Pavlovich, filed suit in three US states alleging Gaiman assaulted her in New Zealand in 2022. However, according to a new report by The Guardian, federal US judges have dismissed Pavlovich’s three lawsuits against the famed author.

Pavlovich filed a lawsuit against Gaiman and his ex, Palmer, in Wisconsin in February 2025. The former nanny to the couple’s child accused the author of multiple s**ual assaults while she worked for them in 2022. Pavlovich filed lawsuits against Palmer in Massachusetts and in New York on the same day she filed the Wisconsin action. That’s mainly because Gaiman has a home in north-western Wisconsin and his ex-wife, Palmer, lives in Massachusetts.

In her filing, Pavlovich explained that she filed a lawsuit in New York because Palmer had recently relocated from New York to Massachusetts, and she was unsure which state had jurisdiction. US district judge Mary Kay Vyskocil in New York accepted Pavlovich’s filing in June.

However, US district judge James Peterson in Madison dismissed Pavlovich’s Wisconsin lawsuit against Palmer in October. Peterson stated that Pavlovich needs to pursue this case legally in New Zealand, where the assault allegedly took place. Notably, US district judge Nathaniel Gorton in Boston nullified the Massachusetts filing for the same reason. Moreover, Gaiman’s attorneys argued, in a bid to dismiss the lawsuit, that he and Pavlovich indeed had a brief personal relationship that involved “consensual physical intimacy.”

Pavlovich alleged in her lawsuits that she was homeless when she met Palmer in Auckland in 2020. According to the former nanny’s court filings, Palmer employed her to babysit the couple’s son. Furthermore, Pavlovich alleged in her filings that Gaiman s**ually assaulted her in February 2022 and continued doing so, taking advantage of her vulnerability.
