Megyn Kelly Calls Bad Bunny’s Halftime Show ‘Middle Finger’ to America

Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly critiqued Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show, labeling the all-Spanish performance a “middle finger” to America. Kelly argued that the halftime show should feel more “quintessentially American” and be performed in English.

While speaking with Piers Morgan, Megyn Kelly called out the NFL’s decision to feature Bad Bunny, who performed entirely in Spanish. She framed the choice as politically charged, pointing to the artist’s past criticism of Donald Trump and U.S. immigration policies. “It’s about him being chosen as the Super Bowl performer. Somebody who’s been an outspoken critic, of course, of the Trump administration and of America and our anti-immigrant policies,” Kelly said.

Kelly argued that the performance excluded much of the country, despite the large Spanish-speaking population in the U.S. “I’m sorry, Piers, but to get up there and perform the whole show in Spanish is a middle finger to the rest of America,” she said. “This is supposed to be a unifying event for the country,” Kelly added.

The discussion grew tense when Morgan challenged Kelly’s assertion about an official national language. “Okay. What is the national language — officially — the national language of the United States of America?” he asked. When Kelly began to say “English,” Morgan interjected, “No, no, hold on, no! You don’t have one!”

Kelly shot back, “If you would have let me finish my comment, I would have pointed that out that people are pushing to make it official.” She then broadened her argument to a cultural warning. Kelly told Morgan, “This attitude that we have right here is why you in Great Britain have lost your culture!”

For Kelly, the halftime show’s essence is non-negotiable. “The halftime show and everything around it needs to stay quintessentially American, not Spanish, not Muslim, not anything other than good old-fashioned American apple pie,” she said. However, Bad Bunny’s official halftime performance stream achieved 46.2 million views on YouTube.
