Bad Bunny details his mother’s support in life and career

Latin rapper Bad Bunny has poignantly shared how his mother has been his pillar of strength, supporting him through life’s ups and downs, and playing a huge role in his journey to stardom.

The Dakiti singer’s voice cracked with emotion as he spoke about the person who’s stood by him long before the bright lights and global fame, at Apple Music‘s Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Press Conference.

In a revelation that touched hearts, Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio credited his mom, Lysaurie Ocasio, for always embracing his every decision, opinion, taste, and choice.

“The first person that came to my mind is my mom because she believed in me,” Bad Bunny said. “And I’m not talking about my music career — I’m just talking about before everything, she believed in me as a person. As a human.”

The six-time Grammy winner’s voice faltered as he whispered, “I think that’s what got me here, you know?” Upon hearing his response, the Moscone Center erupted in applause, but an emotional Bad Bunny needed a moment to collect himself.

Bad Bunny is gearing up to headline the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, where the Seattle Seahawks will take on the New England Patriots. This prestigious performance comes hot on the heels of his three Grammy wins, including Album of the Year for Debí Tirar Más Fotos.

In the lead-up to the big event, Bad Bunny has been sharing glimpses of his vision and creative process. During the press conference, he also spoke about the importance of connecting with his roots and culture, emphasizing that the halftime show is not just about him, but about the entire Latino community.
