Jason Kelce Says It’s ‘Weird’ to Not Have Travis Kelce at Super Bowl

Jason Kelce recently reflected on how it feels for both him and his brother, Travis Kelce, to not be part of the upcoming Super Bowl. The event will feature an epic showdown between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks in San Francisco on February 8. While Jason admitted that it feels “weird” knowing that neither of the brothers will be playing in the biggest game of the season, he also shared that he has made peace with it and plans to enjoy the event without getting too personally attached.

Jason Kelce talks about brother Travis’ Super Bowl absence

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Jason revealed what it’s like for him and his brother Travis to be absent from the Super Bowl. He said, “Yeah. It is weird not having Trav in the Super Bowl or playing in it myself. It hasn’t happened in a while.”

In 2023, the Kelce brothers made headlines for the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles epic faceoff during the Super Bowl event. At the time, the Kansas City Chiefs took home the victory, defeating the Eagles by a 35-38 score. The Chiefs maintained their winning streak in 2024, going against the San Francisco 49ers. Jason, who was an Eagles center, retired in 2024.

Despite none of the Kelce brothers being a part of the biggest sports event, Jason looks forward to enjoying it without getting personally attached. He said, “So it’ll be fun to really just enjoy the Super Bowl for what it is, not be as personally attached to it. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to watch the Eagles or Chiefs in the Super Bowl, for sure — but that is not the case.”

Sharing his enthusiasm for the other aspects of the event, he elaborated, “And the Super Bowl has really turned into a whole week-long event where there are so many things set up there. We’re going to be doing New Heights things there. Kylie’s going to be doing Not Going To Lie things there. There’s every major media company and advertising. And it’s turned into a whole kind of convention in general for the whole week. So there’s no shortage of things to do and we certainly have a full docket.”

Travis’ team, the Chiefs, struggled in the latest season, ending it with a 6–11 record, which is regarded as the worst since 2012.
