Donald Trump Says He Should ‘Probably Make It’ to Heaven

President Donald Trump addressed his spiritual prospects at the National Prayer Breakfast, stating he believes he will “probably” reach heaven. The remarks revisited past controversial comments about the afterlife, which Trump now claims were made in jest.

Donald Trump talks about going to heaven

Speaking on February 5 at the National Prayer Breakfast, Donald Trump pushed back against reports suggesting he doubted his chances of going to heaven. He argued that his previous statements were never meant to be taken seriously and blamed media coverage for stripping away the humor behind them.

“I was just having fun,” Trump said, explaining that his comments were delivered in jest rather than as a serious reflection on faith or the afterlife. Trump then added a more direct assessment of his own record, saying of heaven, “I really think I probably should make it. I mean, I’m not a perfect candidate, but I did a hell of a lot of good for perfect people.”

President Trump Attends the National Prayer Breakfast

The comments came during Donald Trump’s remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast, where he addressed faith, media coverage, and politics. He said the media wrote his past words about the afterlife without conveying his sense of irony and described the remarks as being made in jest.

During the same event, Trump shifted from spiritual reflection to sharp political criticism. He singled out Republican Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky, criticizing him for frequently breaking with the party line. “No matter what we do, this moron, no matter what it is,” Trump said, adding, “We’ll get a 100% vote except for this guy named Thomas Massie. There’s something wrong with him.”

Donald Trump’s frustration stems from Massie’s opposition to several key positions, including votes against major tax and spending legislation and disputes over presidential authority on military action.

Moreover, Donald Trump’s speech at the National Prayer Breakfast made it clear that the president does believe he will go to heaven.
