Patrick Mahomes Sets the Record Straight on Travis Kelce Post

NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes sent fans into a meltdown with a cryptic X post about his Kansas City Chiefs teammate and friend, Travis Kelce. However, he was quick to jump back to the social media platform to clarify that he was only commenting on Kelce’s new achievement.

Patrick Mahomes clears the air on his recent post about Travis Kelce

On February 4, Patrick Mahomes took to his X account to post a simple message. He wrote, “Let’s go!!!!!” tagged Kelce and finished it with three dartboard emojis. With rumours of the tight end’s retirement the biggest talk among NFL fans, they assumed that Mahomes’ post implied that Kelce would not be hanging up his helmet just yet.

However, Mahomes was quick to clarify that his post had nothing to do with those retirement rumours. He wrote, “Talking about,” followed by two golf emojis and three laughing emojis on X. What Mahomes was celebrating in his first post was, in fact, Kelce’s praiseworthy performance on the golf course.

The 11-time Pro Bowler is spending his off-season playing a different sport this time. After the Kansas City Chiefs’ devastating playoff elimination this season, he had no obligation to remain in the Bay Area. So, he decided to compete in the Waste Management Phoenix Open Pro-Am golf event on February 4.

Kelce arrived at the famous ‘Stadium Hole’, the Par-3 16th, and landed the ball just a foot shy of the hole. He capped the moment by rolling in his first birdie and high-fived his playing partners after playing an air guitar. His impeccable performance won him the Waste Management gold chain.

With Mahomes clarifying that his tweet was about Kelce’s success in golf, the uncertainty around his retirement plans remains. The two-time league MVP could not play much with his team this NFL season after tearing his Achilles tendon during a game. Whether he will be able to play in the next season also remains to be seen.
