Mark Ruffalo Drops Update on Being Fired From Disney

Mark Ruffalo is finally addressing the online chatter questioning his future as the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After months of speculation fueled by his limited recent appearances, the actor set the record straight while promoting his latest film.

Mark Ruffalo reacts to Disney rumors

Mark Ruffalo finally addressed the firing chatter while speaking with The News Movement during press for Crime 101. When he was straight-up asked if Disney had shown him the door as the Hulk, he looked more confused than concerned. Ruffalo laughed it off, saying that as far as he knows, nothing like that has happened, despite people constantly asking if he’s been let go. “Not that I know of,” Ruffalo said.

His Crime 101 co-stars had his back, too. Chris Hemsworth and Halle Berry didn’t waste a second shutting the rumors down, calling them “nonsense”. Berry even joked that if Ruffalo were ever forced out, she’d be ready to stage a protest, and Hemsworth agreed.

Ruffalo also made it clear that there’s no bad blood between him and Marvel. He suggested their relationship is still strong and said he’s happy to stay involved for as long as the studio wants him around. He even hinted that he may already be quietly working on upcoming projects, teasing that he’s still very much in the mix.

The rumors gained traction because Ruffalo hasn’t appeared in a major live-action MCU role since She-Hulk in 2022, aside from voice work on What If…?. That’s set to change soon, with his return confirmed in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is expected to hit theaters this summer. Marvel, however, is keeping details under wraps, including how big his role will be. As for the upcoming Avengers films, Ruffalo has not been officially announced for Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars. Still, his comments suggest the door is very much open.

For those not in the know, Mark Ruffalo is a Hollywood A-lister who has starred in You Can Count on Me, Spotlight, Foxcatcher, Zodiac, Shutter Island, and many more popular movies.
