Donald Trump Says He Likes Bill Clinton

Donald Trump weighed in on his relationship with former President Bill Clinton during a recent interview, offering unexpected praise and revisiting past political dynamics. The former president shared why he holds a favorable view of Clinton and reflected on moments that shaped their interactions.

President Donald Trump told NBC’s Tom Llamas that he believed former President Bill Clinton “understood” him. “I like Bill Clinton,” Trump said. “I like his behavior toward me, I thought he understood me.” Trump also said Clinton had advised Democrats not to run against him in 2016: “He was the one that said, very famously, that you don’t want to run against Trump.”

In the same NBC News interview, Trump stated, “It bothers me that somebody is going after Bill Clinton.” This referred to the House Oversight Committee’s probe into the Clintons’ ties to Jeffrey Epstein. “I always liked him,” Trump told The Hill earlier that week. “I shouldn’t feel this way but I feel badly that they have to go through that.”

Trump claimed that Clinton warned Hillary Clinton and Democrats not to challenge him during the 2016 race. “He said, Hillary, you know, whatever I know don’t run against Trump… and they ran against Trump. It didn’t work out too well, did it?” Trump said to Llamas. Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 election to Trump, with Trump winning 304 electoral votes to Clinton’s 227.

The House Oversight Committee has scheduled both Hillary and Bill Clinton to testify in its investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. Hillary Clinton will testify on February 26, and Bill Clinton will testify on February 27. House Oversight Chair James Comer confirmed that the committee will film and transcribe both depositions.

Trump also compared the investigation into the Clintons with his own legal troubles. “They went after me. They wanted me to go to jail for the rest of my life and it turned out I was innocent.” He concluded, “I hate to see it in many ways.”
