NBC Pulls Hit TV Show From Schedule, Fans Fear Cancellation Is Coming

Fans of the medical drama Brilliant Minds are sounding the alarm after NBC removed the show from its upcoming schedule with no firm return date, sparking immediate fears of a looming cancellation. The sudden move comes as the network prepares for its Winter Olympic coverage, but leaves the show’s future in serious doubt.

Brilliant Minds pulled from NBC schedule

Brilliant Minds currently has six unaired episodes that were expected to roll out later this season, but NBC has pulled those episodes from its schedule (via Variety). While much of NBC’s primetime slate is entering a brief hiatus due to coverage of the 2026 Winter Olympics, Brilliant Minds now finds itself in a different situation altogether.

NBC has confirmed that The Voice: Battle of Champions will take over the Monday 9-11 p.m. ET/PT slot starting February 23. That decision effectively bumps Brilliant Minds from its regular timeslot, with no replacement date locked in. According to a Variety source, the remaining episodes are expected to be released later in the season or possibly during the summer time.

Brilliant Minds fans speculate about potential cancellation

While NBC has not officially announced a Brilliant Minds cancellation, the extended absence has raised eyebrows among fans, as many interpret the vague language as a bad omen. One fan wrote on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), “‘At some point’ – Kiss of death….”

While another lamented, “I’m afraid this means that ‘Brilliant Minds’ is on life support, and the prognosis does not look good. What a shame.” A third user summed up the prevailing mood, asking, “Brilliant minds probably getting cancelled?”

NBC will likely make its final decision on the fate of Brilliant Minds and a potential renewal of Brilliant Minds Season 2 closer to its annual upfront presentation in May. Five new drama pilots seem to be in contention at the network for next season. Essentially, this means an increase in the competition for a limited number of slots on the broadcast schedule.
