NBC News Reveals Who Will Interview Donald Trump at Super Bowl Pre-Game

As is the tradition before every Super Bowl match, current President Donald Trump will sit down for a pre-game interview with NBC News this year as well. The network has now confirmed that the exclusive discussion will be conducted by renowned journalist Tom Llamas.

Tom Llamas to interview Donald Trump at Super Bowl pre-game

The NBC Nightly News anchor will interview the US President before the 2026 NFL Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks.

Per NBC News, the exchange between 46-year-old Tom Llamas and 79-year-old Donald Trump will take place on Wednesday, February 4, four days before Super Bowl kick-off. The interview will happen at the White House and air in several segments.

A portion of the discussion will come out at 6:30 PM ET on NBC Nightly News that day, with an extended version of the same premiering on NBC News NOW’s Top Story with Tom Llamas at 7 PM ET. Moreover, NBC will air a separate segment of the interview during its Super Bowl LX Pregame Show on February 8, 2026.

Notably, the tradition of sitting down with US presidents before a Super Bowl fixture began in 2004 when CBS interviewed George W. Bush. Since then, the practice has become a ritual that almost every President has followed. It occurred without any hindrance during Barack Obama’s two tenures in the White House.

However, the two Presidents succeeding Obama have chosen not to religiously follow the tradition, breaking routine on multiple occasions. During his first term of presidency, Donald Trump sat down with Fox in 2017 and 2020, and with CBS in 2019. Nevertheless, he opted not to indulge in a pre-game exchange with NBC back when the network was hosting the fan-favorite football event in 2018.

In a similar fashion, Joe Biden went ahead with the custom in 2021 and 2022, but chose not to give an interview before the 2023 and 2024 Super Bowls. In his second presidential term, Trump gave the pre-match interview to Fox in 2025, and will follow suit this year by sitting down with NBC’s Tom Llamas.
