A short video, now viewed nearly two million times on X (formerly Twitter), captured Bad Bunny seated in the audience when Lady Gaga quietly approached him from behind. She tapped his shoulder, startling him enough to make him visibly jump before turning around to see who it was. After the initial shock, Gaga leaned in, whispered something into his ear, kissed his cheek, and then quickly walked away. The Puerto Rican artist watched her leave, appearing momentarily frozen in place as the crowd around him continued.
Body language expert Judi James analyzed the moment. Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail, James said the “Abracadabra” hitmaker made a conscious effort to approach him herself rather than relying on her star status. “[Gaga] went out of her way to creep down to congratulate Bad Bunny rather than pulling rank,” James explained. “This is a flattering gesture to Bad Bunny, although her approach from behind seems to have startled him.”
“As Gaga taps him on the shoulder, his hands rise up in a jerking movement as though he thinks he’s had a visit from the Grim Reaper here,” she said. The body language expert further noted that he briefly looked the wrong way before realizing it was Gaga.
James said that when Bad Bunny realized who had touched him, he had a “fan-boy” reaction. She described it as him almost swooning with happiness. Gaga kissed him on the cheek and then walked away, “leaving him looking devastated at having missed the opportunity to chat.” She added that even though Bad Bunny dressed and posed like a major star at the event, his behaviour toward other celebrities came across as humble and genuine.
