Ricky Martin Has a Message For Bad Bunny After Grammys Win

Ricky Martin sends a special message to Bad Bunny after his historic Grammys win. Bunny clocked the awards night by bagging major wins, particularly the coveted “Album of the Year.” It marked a first for a Spanish-language album, and Martin couldn’t be prouder of his fellow Puerto Rican artist.

Ricky Martin shares heartfelt message to Bad Bunny

Ricky Martin penned a heartwarming open letter to Bad Bunny after he won three awards at this year’s Grammys. Martin published the letter in the Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevo Día. He also shared it via screenshots on his Instagram stories.

Martin penned, “Benito, brother, seeing you win three Grammy Awards, one of them for Album of the Year with a production entirely in Spanish, touched me deeply. Not only as an artist, but as a Puerto Rican who has walked stages around the world carrying his language, his accent, and his story” (via Entertainment Weekly).

Martin wrote that he understands that this historic win is “heavy”. He also acknowledged that Bunny’s win is a “cultural and human victory.”

The Vuelve hitmaker shared, “I know what it means to succeed without letting go of where you come from. I know how heavy it is, what it costs, and what is sacrificed when you decide not to change because others ask you to. That’s why what you have achieved is not just a historic musical accomplishment, it’s a cultural and human victory.” Martin added that he was proud of the fact that Bunny won by “staying true to Puerto Rico.”

Furthermore, the Latin legend revealed he was touched by Bunny’s speech at the awards. Martin concluded by stating, “This achievement is for a generation to whom you taught that their identity is non-negotiable and that success is not at odds with authenticity. From the heart, from one Boricua to another, with respect and love, I thank you for reminding us that when one of ours succeeds, we all succeed.”
